Amelia Earhart once said “The most effective way to do it, is to do it.” This is how I feel about spring cleaning.
When the weather warms up and the trees are blooming with their beautiful blossoms, the last thing I want to be doing is going through closets and cleaning out drawers. But spring cleaning doesn’t have to be an unending list of chores. In fact, it can be a time to look at your home with fresh eyes and breathe new life into your living spaces.
On the one hand, springtime feels like crossing a finish line – we made it through the winter! Holiday craziness, cold weather, long days and early nights are now a thing of the past. On the other hand, spring is a time for new beginnings. It’s amazing how something small like pulling out sandals and getting a pedicure can make you feel ready to take on the world.
You might look at spring cleaning the same way. A few small steps can give your space a facelift, leaving you feeling refreshed and energized and excited about what’s to come. Tackle the toilet. This might be my least favorite chore, but here’s a tip: use cola! Pour a bottle of cola into the toilet, making sure to coat the entire inside, and let it sit for 30 minutes. Then scrub and flush for a spotless commode!
Clutter-free countertops. If you don’t use something, get rid of it. Don’t overthink it – just toss it, especially old makeup that could be harboring bacteria. If you have more than two or three of something, just save your favorites and donate or trash the rest.
